Dreamboats has secured access to 2 houseboats for this coming summer. One vessel is based at Z pier Westhaven, and the other at the Orakei marina along the water front. A third houseboat based in Turangi will shortly be avilable for Dreamboats Members. The Auckland vessels are available to the general public on a cash sales basis, as well as Dreamboats Members using their Dreamboats points.
The specifications are as follows:
- Sleep 6 - 9 people in 2 cabins plus saloon berths. 3 or 4 x double berths, and 1 x single berth
- Cruise at 6 - 7knts with 2 x 50hp 4 stroke outboards. Fuel consumption is approx 10l - 12l per hour at ~6knts
- Cruising range is the inner Hauraki Gulf, including the beautiful 'bottom end' of Waiheke (ask for the specific limits)
- Boats have full size galleys and bathrooms etc (like a small appartment)
- Tarriffs are as follows
Peak season bookings of 5 days or more are at a flat rate of $$675 per day.
Peak season rates for bookings of 3 – 4 days is $685 per day.
Bookings of 2 days are $700 per day
Bookings of 1 day are only available by special arrangement and are $735 per day

Note that a standard single 'day' is from 8:00am to 6:00pm. A standard multi-day booking is from 8:00am on the first day to 6:00pm on the last day. Please note that some extension to these hours may be granted if other bookings allow, so tell us what you period you would prefer, and we will tell you what we can do without affecting other bookings.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HOUSEBOAT MAY NOT BE DRIVEN DURING THE HOURS OF DARKNESS
A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking. A refundable fuel and Insurance bond of $3000 must be paid before departure. The insurance excess is $2,500 for casual clients. No deposit or bond is payable by Dreamboats Members.
In general, you can think of these houseboats as being like an apartment on the water, with lot's of home comforts. There is also a large upstairs deck for wining and dining whilst admiring the views. These vessels would be great for a family wanting to have a fun holiday where the children have plenty of room to play safely, whilst you can choose a new view for your lounge windows every day.
If you have reasonable boating experience already, only minimal training is required to operate these vessels. If you are less experienced, Dreamboats, in association with Coastguard Boating Education, can offer customised training courses to keep you safe on the water.
To allow you to check the availability of the houseboats on the dates you are considering, Dreamboats have entered the houseboats into it's Members booking system, but made access available also to the general public.
Please note that you will not be able to make houseboat bookings through this system (you will get an error message if you try to 'book'). Only the house boats are available for hire to the general public. All other vessels displayed in the booking system are exclusive to Dreamboats Members.
Outside the Christmas holiday period, bookings can be made by emailing Dreamboats on the office@dreamboats.com email link below. During the period 25 Dec to 3 Jan please direct your enquiries directly to Kitrina on 021 422628. Whilst our operations staff are on duty, and the boats are available for hire, our Administration office is closed through this period other than for pre-arranged visits.
To check the dates of interest to you, just click on the "Bookings" link below, and enter the user name "hb1" and password "hb1" into the logon screen that will appear. Once logged in, just click on the calendar for your dates as appropriate. The text beside each boat (houseboats are at bottom of page) will tell you the availability on that date. If the "Book" box is shown to the right of the boat name, the boat is available on that day, and the grey text in the "Booked Until" section will indicate how long the boat is available from that date forward. If the boat is unavailable on the selected day there will be red text saying "BOOKED FOR TODAY".
Over the Christmas - mid Jan period we will have two Houseboats available, so if you are looking for dates in period please call us to check availability.
